Mogwera KhoathaneMogwera is a radiation science entrepreneur with proven entrepreneurial flair.  He holds a BSc (Chemistry & Physics), BSc Hons in Physics (University of Limpopo), MDP Project Management (Unisa SBL) and a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Management (University of Natal).  His career in Radiation Protection has been with South African Nuclear Corporation (NECSA) and the National Nuclear Regulator as a Scientist and Programme Manager respectively.

He has earned recognition as an expert in Radiation Protection with international bodies such as the International Atomic Energy Agency, where he served as an advisor in a number of technical committees.  He also serves as a Chairperson of the Radiation Accreditation Board and South African Qualifications Authority (Standards Generating Body) on Radiation Protection.

Dr Happy SitholeDr Sithole is a dynamic, innovative and motivated scientist, offering outstanding analytical, strategic research development and implementation expertise in physics and materials science.  In addition, Happy possess effective problem solving and troubleshooting skills, supported by a solid, successful 14-year track record that includes verifying and validating computer codes used in Nuclear Safety Relevant processes, for preparation of licensing with the National Nuclear Regulator.

Happy is currently the director of the Center for High Performance Computers, and in his career he has demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in professional practice with good leadership qualities and a host of local and international network in scientific communities.

 

 

 

Izak (ID) Kruger

ID KrugerID Kruger is accredited as Radiation Protection Specialist in the field of Naturally Occurring Radioactivity with more than 25 years experience of facilities in the Nuclear Fuel Cycle. His work experience includes 14 years with the South African National Nuclear Regulator (NNR), during the period 1992 to 2006, where he was responsible for regulating all aspects governed by the National Nuclear Regulator Act at mining and minerals processing facilities such as Uranium, Gold, Monazite, Mineral Sands and Phosphate mines. Since 2007 he was operating independently as a Radiation Protection Specialist for these types of companies doing worker and public safety assessments, establishing radiation protection and control programmes, including waste management, transport, physical security and emergency planning. As an ISO 9001 certified Lead Auditor he was also responsible for establishing quality management programmes and conducting ISO9001 system audits.

Between 1984 and 1992 ID was employed as a Scientist at the South African Nuclear Energy Corporation (NECSA) with responsibilities relating to radiation protection at the various Necsa facilities. From September 2008 to March 2010 he has also provided Radiation Protection Consultant services to the company responsible for the building of and manufacturing nuclear fuel for the Pebble Bed Modular Reactor.

ID holds a BSc Honours Degree in Physics from the University of Port Elizabeth, a Post Graduate Diploma in Radiation Protection from the University of Surrey (England), the Intermediate and Practical Certificates in Mine Environmental Control at Chamber of Mines of South Africa, a Diploma in Advanced Project Management from Unisa and the Certificate in Environmental Law for Managers at the Centre for Environmental Management at the University of Potchefstroom.

ID currently serves as a Board Member of the Radiation Protection Accreditation Board (RPAB). Since 2002 he also served as a member of the Executive Committee of the Southern African Radiation Protection Association (SARPA) and was Chairperson of the Organising Committee of the First All African International Radiation Protection Association Congress held in South Africa during 2003.
